The Uijeongbu Police Station announced on the 12th that they have arrested and are investigating a man identified as A for the crime of obstructing the execution of special public duties causing injury.

According to the police investigation, A is suspected of ignoring the instructions of Officer B, who was conducting a DUI check on the road in Uijeongbu-dong, Uijeongbu City, at approximately 9:30 PM on the 11th, and then hitting Officer B with his vehicle before fleeing the scene.

At that time, A encountered the police officers who were conducting DUI checks while driving under the influence. When the police attempted to stop him, A suddenly rammed into Officer B with his vehicle and drove away. After abandoning his vehicle, A hid in a nearby alley before ultimately being captured by the police.

As a result of the incident, Officer B sustained serious injuries to his back and shoulder and is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

It has been confirmed that A's blood alcohol concentration at the time of the crime was between 0.03% and 0.08%, which is a level that warrants license suspension.

A reportedly stated during the police investigation, "I committed the act out of fear of being penalized for drunk driving." However, due to his actions, he is now facing the more serious charge of obstructing the execution of special public duties causing injury, rather than just simple drunk driving.
