“How should I do, Munsu?” Lee Su-jeong, who mocked… Quickly changes stance as Kim Mun-soo is confirmed as a candidate.

Lee Soo-jung's Controversy Over 'One Night Turnaround'

Lee Soo-jung, a well-known criminal psychologist and the chief of the People Power Party's Suwon constituency in Gyeonggi Province, has come under fire for abruptly changing her stance after posting a critical message aimed at presidential candidate Kim Moon-soo, only to reverse her position once circumstances shifted.

On the 9th, Lee posted on Facebook about the news that Kim’s injunction application had been dismissed, mocking him with the comment, "It's all dismissed. What should I do, Moon-soo?"

As tensions escalated between Kim and former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo regarding the unification efforts, the court's dismissal of the injunction favored Han's side, prompting Lee to ridicule Kim in her reaction.

Following the court's dismissal, the leadership of the People Power Party convened the Emergency Committee and the Election Management Committee at midnight on the 10th to cancel Kim's nomination and begin the process of re-selecting a candidate.

However, the situation took a sudden turn on the 11th. Party members voted against changing the candidate to Han Duck-soo, allowing Kim Moon-soo to regain his candidacy for president.

Lee swiftly changed her stance as circumstances evolved. On the 11th, she expressed on Facebook, "Thanks to the aspirations of the party members, we found an escape route from a situation where we almost couldn’t even submit a presidential candidate due to the injunction ruling. I pay my respects."

She continued, stating, "Now our task is to win the presidential election and protect liberal democracy. I will do my best."

Lee Soo-jung's Past Controversies and Criticism

Lee's abrupt shift in position quickly spread through online communities and social media, drawing widespread criticism.

One netizen sarcastically commented, "From today, her name is changed from Lee Soo-jung to Sudden Change (급수정)," while another criticized, "There is not even minimal shame. Truly a talent from the rebellion party."

As the controversy grew, it appears that on the morning of the 12th, Lee deleted or restricted access to the posts in question. As of the 13th, both posts are no longer available on her Facebook page.

Lee also faced controversy during her candidacy for the 22nd National Assembly election last year.

At that time, she defended former President Yoon Suk-yeol's statement that "875 won for a bundle of cabbage is a reasonable price," arguing that "875 won is not for a bundle, but for one root," which drew criticism.

She eventually apologized, saying, "I lost my reason for a moment and made a mistake," but she was not elected in the election.

In December of last year, she posted on Facebook, claiming, "Even if President Yoon Suk-yeol is impeached, we must clean up the Election Commission," which echoed the far-right's claims of election fraud, leading her to delete the post amid controversy.

At that time, lawmaker Lee Jun-seok from the Reform Party criticized her strongly, saying, "Such a person should be expelled from politics quickly."
