An unfortunate accident occurred in Daegu, where a man in his 70s collecting waste was struck and killed by a delivery vehicle.
At approximately 2:53 AM on the 12th, Mr. Kim (73), who was pushing a cart filled with waste, collided with a delivery vehicle on a one-way four-lane road in Bisan-dong, Daegu, and died at the scene.

Issues with Driver's Visibility and Ongoing Investigation

It has not yet been confirmed whether Mr. A was delivering packages during his early morning shift or returning home.
The road was relatively bright.

A police official stated, "We plan to determine the exact circumstances of the accident through further investigation." This incident once again highlighted safety concerns for elderly individuals collecting waste on the roads during the early morning hours.
Such accidents demonstrate the reality that elderly waste collectors engage in dangerous activities during risky hours to make a living. There are pressing calls for measures to ensure the safety of waste collectors who work on the roads during the dark early morning hours.
Experts advise the provision of basic safety equipment, such as reflective vests for night workers, and campaigns to raise awareness among drivers to enhance safety.
