Police Respond to Report of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Video, Break Down Door to Rescue Man

After a woman reported that her boyfriend had sent her a video of himself lighting carbon monoxide, the police acted quickly to save the life of a man.

According to Channel A on the 9th, the Seoul Seodaemun Police Station received a report from a woman in her 20s at around 10:05 a.m., stating, "My boyfriend sent me a video of him lighting carbon monoxide," and dispatched officers to the scene.

According to the report, the man in his 20s filmed himself lighting carbon monoxide after receiving a breakup notification from his girlfriend, sending the footage to her as a sign of a potential extreme choice. Upon confirming this, the woman judged that the man’s life was in danger and immediately sought police assistance.

Based on the woman's statement, the police gathered information suggesting that the video was filmed in a motel, and they conducted inquiries in the motel area of Hongje-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. During their investigation, they discovered a room with traces of carbon monoxide, but the man had already left the location. The police then checked CCTV footage to track the man's whereabouts.

Thanks to the quick police response, a critical situation was resolved.

After tracing him, the police located the man's shop and detected the smell of carbon monoxide coming from the ventilation system.

Judging the situation to be life-threatening, the police kicked down the shop door and entered without delay. Inside the storage area, they found the man collapsed after inhaling carbon monoxide.

Police Officer Jang Seon-bong from the Hong-eun 2 Police Station, who responded to the scene, explained, "We detected the smell of carbon monoxide from the building's ventilation system and realized it was an urgent situation. With the determination to save a life, my police colleague and I broke down the entrance and rescued the man."

Thanks to the rapid rescue efforts, the man was promptly transported to the hospital and has reportedly made a full recovery.
