Fatal Accident During RV Maintenance in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon

A tragic accident occurred in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, where a man in his 40s died after being crushed by a vehicle while maintaining an RV.

According to Incheon Fire Headquarters, a report was received around 10:53 a.m. on the 11th, stating that a man in his 40s, referred to as Mr. A, had been pinned under a vehicle on a roadside in Sangok-dong, Bupyeong-gu.

First responders from the 119 emergency services immediately performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on Mr. A and transported him to a nearby general hospital; however, he ultimately succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the hospital.

Investigation into the circumstances of the accident revealed that Mr. A had told his family, "I will go and maintain the RV," before leaving home but did not return.

His family, concerned after he did not come back, went to the scene of the incident and witnessed the accident, leading them to report it.

Possibility of Accident Due to Lack of Safety Equipment

The police suspect that the accident occurred when the support beam Mr. A installed collapsed while he was working under the vehicle. Notably, the RV Mr. A was maintaining was a modified vehicle derived from a 25-passenger mid-sized bus; it was a large vehicle weighing significantly more than a standard passenger car.

A police official stated, "We are closely examining the site's closed-circuit television (CCTV), but thus far, we believe that the accident was not caused by another person."

The police are continuing their investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
