Hong Joon-pyo: “Han X self-destructed the martial law, and now Du X is replacing candidates while final self-destructing.”

Former Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo Criticizes Replacement of People Power Party's Presidential Candidate

Former Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo unleashed strong criticism today (10th) regarding the cancellation of the People Power Party's candidate selection for Kim Moon-soo and the recruitment of independent presidential contender Han Duck-soo.

On the 10th, Hong posted on his Facebook, "After HanX self-destructed during the midnight coup, now DoX is self-destructing through candidate looting and replacement in the final act," and "If you’re going to go crazy, at least do it gracefully," directly criticizing the decisions made by the People Power Party’s leadership.

In Hong's remarks, "self-destructing during the coup" appears to refer to former President Yoon Suk-yeol, while "final self-destruction through looting replacement" seems to target the so-called 'double authority' leadership, including Emergency Response Committee Chair Kwon Young-se and Floor Leader Kwon Seong-dong.

Particularly, Hong added, "Thus, the Korean conservative lemming party has been extinguished," stating, "Lee Jun-seok is left all alone." This is interpreted as a strong criticism that the People Power Party has lost its identity and is heading toward downfall.

In response, Reform Party presidential candidate Lee Jun-seok commented on Hong's post, stating, "Representative, it seems that creating the aspirations for new politics desired by the younger generation is now a mission we must fulfill," and added, "Have a safe trip to America."

Meanwhile, Reform Party candidate Lee Jun-seok also strongly criticized the replacement of the presidential candidate by the People Power Party through his Facebook on the same day. He pointed out, "I didn’t expect any reflection on expelling a party leader who won consecutive elections, but I never dreamed that they would repeat the same mistakes regarding the presidential candidate."

Lee remarked, "By now, the People Power Party has become a four-time offender in expelling its leaders or candidates," and added, "At this point, I wonder if the People Power Party has made a secret pact to support candidate Lee Jae-myung."
