Foreign Workers Injured in Kimje Manure Tank Fall Incident

Two foreign workers sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital after falling into a manure tank while retrieving a cell phone at a pig farm in Kimje, Jeollabuk-do.

The incident occurred at around 3:35 PM on the 9th, when the two foreign workers fell into a manure tank approximately 2 meters deep at a pig farm located in Yongji-myeon, Kimje-si.

As a result of the accident, a Vietnamese worker in his 20s, identified as A, showed signs of decreased consciousness and sustained serious injuries, while another worker from Thailand in his 20s, identified as B, sustained minor injuries.

The accident happened when A first fell while trying to retrieve the cell phone that had fallen into the manure tank, and B fell while attempting to rescue him.

Other workers present at the scene quickly discovered them and rescued them from outside the tank. Both workers were urgently transported to a nearby hospital, with A's condition reported to be serious due to signs of decreased consciousness.

The manure tank they fell into was found to be 2 meters deep, containing approximately 50 cm of manure.

Police and firefighting authorities have determined from initial investigations that the two dropped the cell phone into the tank and fell while trying to retrieve it, and they are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
