BTS Jin, Japanese Woman's Surprise Kiss Incident Sent to Prosecutors

A Japanese woman who attempted to kiss BTS member Jin unexpectedly has been referred to prosecutors.

On the 8th, the Seoul Songpa Police Station announced that a Japanese woman in her 50s, identified as A, has been sent to prosecutors on charges of molestation in a crowded place under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act. A was reported to have voluntarily appeared to the police after recently entering South Korea.

The incident occurred on June 13 of last year during a 'Hug event' commemorating Jin's military discharge held at the Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Songpa-gu, Seoul.

During the event, which was attended by 1,000 fans, a female fan was captured attempting to kiss Jin on the face, and this scene went viral online, causing significant controversy.

On social media (SNS), a blog post believed to be written by the woman surfaced as a screenshot. The blog post contained a message stating that the author was a Japanese fan and mentioned, "My lips touched his neck; his skin was incredibly soft."

The police received a report through the Citizen's Report Center requesting an investigation into the woman for violating the Sexual Violence Punishment Act and initiated an inquiry.

Subsequently, in July of last year, the police requested international cooperation through Interpol Japan via the National Police Agency, and about seven months later, they were able to identify A.

In January of this year, the police formally charged A and requested her to appear; however, anticipating delays in the investigation, they decided to suspend the inquiry in March.

According to police investigation regulations, if the suspect is untraceable, stays abroad for more than two months, or is unable to be investigated for significant periods due to serious health conditions, they can decide to suspend the investigation until the reasons are resolved.
