Fire Started from Charcoal Burner in Vehicle Leads to Casualties
A fire that broke out in a villa located in Hyoja-dong, Wansan-gu, Jeonju, resulted in the death of one person and injuries to three others.
On the 30th of last month, the Jeonju Wansan Police announced that they had arrested a woman in her 30s, referred to as A, on charges of arson and manslaughter due to gross negligence.
A is suspected of lighting a charcoal burner inside her parked vehicle at 12:41 PM the previous day, which ignited a fire that spread throughout the entire villa.

The fire originating from A's vehicle spread to nearby buildings, resulting in a large-scale fire. It is reported that A exited the vehicle after lighting the charcoal burner.
As a result of the fire, a woman in her 40s who lived on the second floor of the building suffered severe burns all over her body and was transported to the hospital, but unfortunately passed away during treatment. Additionally, three out of six residents in the building inhaled smoke and were also taken to the hospital for treatment.
The material damage caused by this fire was substantial. Eight vehicles parked in the lot were completely destroyed, and approximately 70 square meters of the 609-square-meter building were damaged by smoke.
According to estimates from the fire department, the total property damage is assessed to be around 110.6 million won.
Fire authorities, upon receiving the fire report, dispatched 33 vehicles and 65 personnel to the scene, successfully extinguishing the flames in about 37 minutes.
A police official stated, "Due to the seriousness of the case and concerns about fleeing, a warrant for A's arrest was issued," adding that further investigations into the circumstances of the fire and her exact motives will be conducted.
