Incheon middle school student taken to the emergency room after eating street missionary chocolate
A middle school student in Incheon was taken to the hospital after showing unusual symptoms after eating chocolate given by a person engaged in street missionary work.
According to the Incheon Yeonsu Police Station, at around 5:40 PM on the 30th of last month, a report was received via 112 that a first-year middle school student, identified as A, was complaining of abdominal pain after eating chocolate distributed for church promotional purposes on the street in Okryeon-dong, Yeonsu-gu.
It is known that A ate the chocolate he received by chance on his way home from school and then exhibited sudden unusual symptoms.
Following the report, the police plan to request the National Institute of Scientific Investigation to conduct a component analysis of the leftover chocolate eaten by A. In addition, they are also checking closed-circuit (CC) TV footage around the location where A received the chocolate to identify the person who distributed it.

It is expected that the decision to prosecute the chocolate distributor will depend on the results of the component analysis by the National Institute of Scientific Investigation.
There was a similar case in December of last year. At that time, seven elementary school students reported feelings of nausea and dizziness after eating chocolate given by a woman in her 40s near an elementary school in Nonhyeon-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon, prompting a police investigation.
The investigation revealed that the woman distributed the chocolate for church promotional purposes, and a component analysis by the National Institute of Scientific Investigation confirmed that there were no significant issues with the chocolate.
A police official stated, "It is currently difficult to determine whether there was intent," adding, "We will clarify the circumstances of the incident through accurate component analysis and investigation of the chocolate distributor."
