SM Entertainment expands the 'Gwangya Forest' created in Seongdong-gu, Seoul Forest.

On the 29th, SM Entertainment (hereafter referred to as SM) signed a business agreement with the city of Seoul for the creation and maintenance of Gwangya Forest Phase 3 at Seoul Forest in Seongdong-gu, Seoul.

With this agreement, an additional 400㎡ of forest area will be added, making it 1.5 times larger than before. 150 saplings and over 800 herbaceous plants will be planted to create a sustainable garden.

Gwangya Forest is a forest garden that SM has been developing within Seoul Forest since 2023, planting over 50 species of trees and herbaceous plants. The second phase of the project was completed last year.

Notably, Gwangya Forest Phase 1 was recognized for its effectiveness in conserving ecosystem diversity. It received the Grand Prize at the '2023 Landscape Award Blue City Award' ceremony hosted by the city of Seoul.

Currently, Gwangya Forest has more than 120 species of trees and over 5,100 herbaceous plants planted, gaining attention as a space where "humans and small ecosystems" harmonize.

SM's CEO Jang Cheol-hyuk stated, "Gwangya Forest Phase 3 is a project that bears the fruit of SM's environmental management," and added, "We will continue our activities for the environment and society."

Meanwhile, SM has been continuing its eco-projects. In January, during 'SM Town Live,' it launched the 'ESG Carbon Footprint Measurement' campaign.
