Actor Kim Tae-ri and Hong Kyung are making their debut in voice acting.

On the 29th, Netflix revealed the teaser poster and trailer for its first Korean animation, "Essential for This Star" (written by Han Ji-won and Kang Hyun-joo, directed by Han Ji-won).

"Essential for This Star" is set in Seoul in 2050. It tells the romance of astronaut Nanyang (played by Kim Tae-ri), who dreams of exploring Mars, and Jae (played by Hong Kyung), who has put his dreams of being a musician on hold, as they move towards dreams and love.

The teaser poster captures a dreamy pink sunset, blending beautifully with the romantic moments of Nanyang and Jae. The two gaze at each other tenderly, offering a fluffy sense of excitement.

The trailer begins with Nanyang and Jae's first meeting. Nanyang destiny meets Jae at an audio equipment shop while trying to repair a turntable that belonged to her mother, and they start to intertwine with each other.

Kim Tae-ri and Hong Kyung express their deep emotions through their voices. Kim Tae-ri showcases a lively yet melancholic performance, while Hong Kyung adds to the romantic atmosphere with his soft bass voice.

The delicate and dreamy worldview unique to director Han Ji-won is also evident. Director Han beautifully illustrated various aspects of Seoul in 2025, including the Seoun Shopping District and the Banpo Bridge.

He won the 'Indie Star' award at the Seoul Indie Animation Festival with "Kopiruwak" and has been invited to prestigious film festivals both domestically and internationally, including the Sundance Film Festival and the Palm Springs International Film Festival.

"Essential for This Star" will be released on Netflix on the 30th of next month.
