May Golden Holiday: 2.88 Million Expected Airport Passengers Nationwide
During the upcoming May Golden Holiday, the number of passengers utilizing airports nationwide is expected to surge.
On the 28th, Korea Airports Corporation announced that it will implement a 'Special Transportation Plan for Family Month Holiday' from May 1 to May 6.
During this period, a total of 8,043 flights are scheduled to operate across 14 airports nationwide, including Gimpo and Jeju, with approximately 1.4 million passengers expected to use these flights. In particular, domestic flights are anticipated to be most crowded on May 1 at Gimpo Airport and on May 2 at Gimhae and Jeju Airports.

Incheon International Airport is also expected to see a concentration of international passengers. Incheon Airport Corporation predicts that approximately 148,2274 passengers will use Incheon Airport from the 30th of this month to the 6th of next month. On peak days, up to 21,8012 passengers are expected to travel, with May 3 anticipated to be the busiest day.
To ensure smooth airport operations, Korea Airports Corporation conducted special inspections of essential facilities, processing facilities, and passenger service facilities at each airport from the 16th to the 23rd.
As a result of the inspections, any deficiencies were addressed immediately on-site, and cooperation with relevant agencies was also checked to prepare for abnormal flight operations, including support supplies and information on accommodation and transportation.

In addition, to manage parking congestion, temporary parking lots have been secured at Gimpo Airport with 1,988 spaces, at Cheongju Airport with 1,217 spaces, and at Jeju Airport with 1,100 spaces, totaling 6,047 temporary parking spaces, increasing the total parking capacity to approximately 29,936 spaces.
Acting President Lee Jeong-ki of Korea Airports Corporation stated, "We will do our best to ensure that airport passengers traveling during the May Golden Holiday can use the airport safely and conveniently." This measure has been established as part of efforts to respond to the increasing travel demand following COVID-19, aiming to provide safe and pleasant airport services.
