On the day Lee Jae-myung became the ‘presidential candidate’, the People Power Party doused cold water, saying, “The time for judgment is approaching.”

The People Power Party criticizes Lee Jae-myung's presidential candidacy confirmation as "a mere endorsement ceremony"

As Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party, confirmed his advancement to the final round with a cumulative vote rate of 89.77%, the People Power Party launched strong criticisms, using terms like "endorsement ceremony" and "one-party regime."

On the 27th, Shin Dong-wook, the senior spokesperson for the People Power Party, stated in a commentary, "This candidate's endorsement ceremony, nothing has changed," and directly pointed out, "What remains now is only various risks." He emphasized, "After a process that twists differences into faults and conflates checks and balances with division, the only one left is this candidate." He critiqued, "In the party that has become a private entity, there is neither the courage nor the system to put brakes on Lee Jae-myung."

He continued, “The Democratic Party is reveling in its arrogance, celebrating the ‘Democratic Party government in 40 days,’" and urged them to reflect on how the people might perceive the Democratic Party, which is intoxicated by unearned power.

"Lee Jae-myung's one-party regime continues… The court should issue a ruling on election law violations before the election," he urged.

Shin also characterized the Democratic Party's recent primary as an "endorsement ceremony" for Lee Jae-myung, asserting, "Whether before or after the endorsement ceremony, the Democratic Party is still the very 'one-party regime of Lee Jae-myung.'" He highlighted, "This candidate's judicial risks, anti-business tendencies, and divisive behaviors obstructing national unity remain unchanged.”

He specifically pointed out that "all risks have only intensified," urging, "The court should no longer hesitate and swiftly provide a ruling on the election law violation cases before the presidential election." He added, "The people have the right to know the truth and make a choice," pledging that the People Power Party would confront arrogance with humility and fight fairly alongside the people against any attempts at monopolization.

Criticism of the "three no's convention"… "Only sycophants catering to Lee Jae-myung's whims"

Seo Ji-young, the spokesperson for the People Power Party's National Assembly, also commented on the Democratic Party's primary, referring to it as "the endorsement ceremony for father Lee Jae-myung," and dismissed it as "a convention characterized by the three no's: no competition, no verification, and no interest."

Seo criticized, "While there were three candidates, except for this candidate, the presence of the other two was barely felt," adding, "It was a convention where there was no competition or even any verbal exchanges." He pointed out, "Candidate Kim Dong-yeon diagnosed that the monopolistic system was 'unhealthy for the party,' but there was no counterattack, and candidate Kim Kyung-soo, being the main figure in the ‘election manipulation scandal,’ made his candidacy a nonsensical mockery of democracy.”

Furthermore, he stated, "Having witnessed the tragedy aimed at the dissenting faction during the last general election, it seemed they were willing to be 'good sycophants' who would not go against Lee Jae-myung’s whims rather than engage in fierce competition." Seo warned Lee Jae-myung, “Enjoy today to the fullest. However, the time of judgment against you is approaching."

“90% support is North Korean-style…” “Defendant Lee Jae-myung should repent publicly”

Criticism continued from the presidential campaign camps within the People Power Party. Shin Sung-young, the spokesperson for the Kim Moon-soo camp, remarked in a commentary, "Is a 90% approval rating democracy?" condemning, "It is no different from the voting results of North Korea that publicly executes political prisoners."

Kim Hye-ran, the spokesperson for the Han Dong-hoon camp, also strongly criticized, "The Democratic Party, which officially nominated defendant Lee Jae-myung as its presidential candidate, must repent publicly before the people." She continued, "Candidate Han is the only person without any judicial risks who can confront this candidate who seeks to become president to cover up his wrongdoing," asserting, "We will definitely defeat this candidate with an overwhelming victory in the primary."
