After bringing it home and placing it in the refrigerator within ten minutes, A was shocked to find visible black mold clearly growing on several strawberries when they checked it later in the evening.

Furthermore, it was reported that a liquid, likely juice from the strawberries, was pooled on the cake's base.

On that day, the daytime temperature in Daejeon reached a scorching 28 degrees Celsius. A pointed out that the problem stemmed from Seongshimdang displaying and storing the cake at room temperature.

As the controversy grew, Seongshimdang acknowledged their inadequate product management and issued an official apology.

They hastily announced that they would improve their refrigeration facilities and, to protect consumer trust, immediately halted the sales of the Strawberry Shiru cake, which was scheduled to continue until the end of the month.

However, a post on the Seongshimdang Cake Boutique's social media on the 24th mentioned the sale suspension without reference to the incident, stating, "Due to the sharply rising temperatures and difficulties in obtaining strawberries, the Strawberry Shiru will be sold only until today. We sincerely thank everyone who has loved the Strawberry Shiru."

Meanwhile, the local district office reported that after conducting an on-site inspection, they requested Seongshimdang to enhance temperature management and product storage, taking corrective measures.
