Baek Jong-won Receives 500 Million Won for Promoting Inje County Festival… Controversy Expands
Baek Jong-won, the CEO of The Born Korea, is facing controversy after it was revealed that he received over 500 million won from Inje County for producing promotional videos for a local festival.
According to the Inje County Cultural Foundation on the 24th, Inje County paid 550 million won to TMC Enter, a subsidiary of The Born Korea, for promoting the local festival 'Camp Lake Festival,' which was held from June 14 to 23 last year.
This amount was determined under the condition that two promotional videos would be posted on Baek Jong-won's YouTube channel, accounting for a significant 28% of the festival's total budget of 1.95 billion won.

According to the contract, videos titled "I’ve Been Struggling for a Few Days" and "Attention to Those Tired of Festival Overcharging" were posted on Baek’s YouTube channel on June 9 and July 8 of last year, respectively.
Currently, the two videos have garnered 860,000 and 570,000 views, respectively.

Inje County Festival Facing Hygiene Issues and Public Fund Waste Controversy
However, as the controversy surrounding Baek persists, the response to the videos has not been favorable.
Baek previously drew public outrage for using construction material barbecue grills and pesticide sprayers as sauce containers at other regional festivals, and it has been revealed that he used the same items in Inje as well.

Numerous complaints regarding hygiene issues have been directed at the Inje Cultural Foundation, which organized the festival.
According to the Segye Ilbo, an Inje County official stated regarding the controversy, "We requested that Baek conduct safety tests on the construction material barbecue grills and pesticide sprayers," adding, "We received a report that the barbecue grill was found to pose no safety issues, and the pesticide sprayer is still under investigation."
Ultimately, as the controversy continues, Inje County has decided not to collaborate with Baek Jong-won for this year's festival.
