Han Dong-hoon: “Lee Jae-myung hid in the ‘forest’ out of fear during the martial law”… The Democratic Party immediately protested

"Nothing more, nothing less than nonsense"

On the 24th, Han Jun-ho, a Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party of Korea, strongly criticized the claim made by Han Dong-hoon, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, regarding the alleged 'hiding of former Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung in a forest during the emergency martial law on December 3', calling it "Han Dong-hoon's unique nonsense."

On that day, Han shared an election promotional material of Han on his social media, stating, "That candidate matches that promotional material." He further explained, "I brought the former leader to my office in the National Assembly and personally drove him to a secluded place," adding, "I persuaded the leader to do so, judging that if the location was exposed, he could become a target for the martial law troops."

In fact, it has been revealed that Lee Jae-myung was one of the top priority targets for arrest.

"At the moment of life and death… hiding was an inevitable choice"

He continued, "It was a time when every single member of the National Assembly was desperately needed to lift the martial law," noting, "I don’t understand how hiding in such a critical moment, when no one should be arrested, could be a problem."

Han then posed a pointed question, "Did you perhaps secretly hope that Lee Jae-myung would be arrested?" and, "Were you praying that he would be detained in the B1 bunker or be dealt with at sea if necessary?"

He also criticized the campaign strategy of undermining others to make oneself look better, saying, "Even if emergency martial law is the only selling point for that candidate, such a campaign strategy is too outdated," and expressed doubts about the political level.

"Where was that candidate on the day of the emergency martial law?"

Han asked, "Let’s inquire, where was that candidate on the day of the emergency martial law?" He remarked, "It was a situation where even lawmakers had to climb over the walls to enter the National Assembly. Yet, how could a candidate who was not even a lawmaker enter the main building? That process remains shrouded in mystery."

He pointed out, "If someone struggled to enter the National Assembly, they would have spread such a hero story all around, but why is it that this particular part is rarely talked about?"

In reality, the candidate has remained silent about how he managed to breach the police blockade to enter the premises.

Han also warned that the candidate’s election promotional materials might constitute 'spreading false facts,' which could violate public election law. He commented, "Is it because this is his first time running for public office? It seems he is unaware of the harsh realities of election campaigns," advising, "He should keep in mind that making any baseless claims could soon make him subject to election law."

Finally, he questioned, "Has he already forgotten the time when he presented a motion for arrest approval in the National Assembly, boasting about it when the prosecution sought an arrest warrant by branding Lee Jae-myung’s statements as 'dissemination of false facts'?" before concluding the statement.
