A man in his 30s who caused a disturbance by attacking passersby with a weapon in a mart was apprehended by the police.

According to the Seoul Gangbuk Police, around 6:20 PM on the 22nd, a man identified as A in his 30s brandished a weapon in a mart near Mia Station in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, resulting in one fatality and one injury.

Among the victims, a woman in her 60s was stabbed and transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest, but eventually passed away. Another woman in her 40s is receiving treatment at the hospital for her injuries; however, her life is not in danger, as reported.

According to the police, A opened the packaging of a weapon available in the mart and attacked two women before being arrested on the spot by police officers nearby. It has been investigated that A and the victims were strangers to each other.

At the time of the incident, A was wearing a patient gown and showed no significant resistance during the arrest.

The Seoul Gangbuk Police are currently investigating A on charges of murder. Initially charged with attempted murder, the charge was changed to murder following the death of one victim.
