A Suspicious Man Appears on the Shinbundang Line Subway

The police are tracking a man in military uniform who exposed his private parts on the subway.

On the 19th, X (formerly Twitter) user A shared a warning saying, "Women riding the Shinbundang Line, be careful," along with a video sent by the informant.

The released video shows a man in military uniform standing inside a subway train with his zipper down, exposing his private parts through the opening in his clothing.

The actual victim requested A to publicize the incident, stating, "I was riding the Shinbundang Line today when a man in military uniform stood in front of me with his zipper down," and added, "It seemed like he was taking a picture with his phone."

Victim's Response and Police Investigation Progress

The victim said, "I was so shocked that I sent a text to the Shinbundang Line customer service number, but it didn't go through," and added, "So I contacted the police, and the incident has been registered as public indecency, but they haven't caught the man yet."

He requested A to post a warning for women using the Shinbundang Line, saying, "As someone who uses the Shinbundang Line every day, I'm very scared."

Additionally, he conveyed that the police advised him not to report such incidents to the subway customer service but to text 112 with the train number instead, as it would be faster.

As news of the incident spread, netizens reacted with comments like "So disgusting," "How surprised must she have been," "We must catch and punish him," and "It makes my stomach turn."

Meanwhile, public indecency can result in up to one year in prison or a fine of up to 5 million won according to Article 245 of the Criminal Act.

Especially if confirmed as a soldier, additional investigations and punishments by military authorities may also occur.

The police are currently tracking the suspect through CCTV analysis.
