A 60-Year-Old Man Sentenced to Imprisonment for Violating Compliance Requirements While Wearing an Electronic Monitoring Device
A 60-year-old man wearing a location tracking electronic device (electronic ankle bracelet) due to a sexual offense was ultimately sentenced to imprisonment after repeatedly violating compliance requirements.
According to legal sources on the 19th, Mr. A (63) cursed at his probation officer last April, saying, “Don’t call me because I'm stressed.” He also made two further complaint calls in which he used additional foul language.

Judge Kang Myung-jung of the Chuncheon District Court’s Yeongwol Branch, who oversaw the first trial, noted, “The nature of the crime is not good,” but taking into account that Mr. A pledged to prevent recurrence and did not use direct physical force, he leniently imposed a fine of 5 million won.
Reoffense Within Just 8 Days Without Remorse; Assault on Elderly Mother
However, just eight days after the fine was imposed, Mr. A once again violated compliance requirements. He not only breached the ban on entering entertainment establishments but also cursed and physically assaulted the probation officer who demanded a breathalyzer test.
After being detained in a holding cell, the low battery alert on the electronic monitoring device went off. Although the probation officer attempted to charge it, Mr. A instead became angry and cursed, obstructing the charging process.
When he demanded money from his elderly mother in her 80s and was refused, he committed additional offenses by assaulting her with a remote control.

Judge Kang, who took over Mr. A's case again, pointed out, “Despite receiving leniency with a fine just 8 days ago, he committed each offense, which demonstrates extremely poor character,” adding that Mr. A appeared to disregard the law and showed no guilt whatsoever, instead of displaying a serious attitude of remorse.
He continued, “Even considering that the defendant confessed to the crimes, the necessity for severe punishment is very high,” and sentenced him to 4 years in prison.
Increased Sentence in Appeal
The Chuncheon District Court’s Criminal Division 1 (Chief Judge Shim Hyun-keun) reviewed the rulings of this case and previous case comprehensively and increased Mr. A's sentence.
The appellate court noted, “Despite repeatedly committing various offenses, he maintains an attitude of making excuses such as 'the probation officer stressed me out,’” and adjusted the sentence to 4 years and 2 months in prison.
