The Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival is stretching its legs once again. It is led by director Jang Jae-hyun and several active directors.

On the 18th, the Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival announced, "The representative genre short film festival of the Republic of Korea is making a comeback. It will meet audiences in the second half of this year during its 21st edition."

The Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival is the only genre short film festival in the country. Founded in 2002, it is celebrating its 21st year. It took a brief hiatus after 2021.

After approximately four years away from the audience, it returns to discover new directors following in the footsteps of directors like Kim Han-min (The Admiral: Roaring Currents), Na Hong-jin (The Wailing), and Yoon Jong-bin (The Drug King).

A seven-member executive team has been formed, including Jang Jae-hyun (The Cursed Lesson), Han Jun-hee (D.P.), Eom Tae-hwa (Concrete Utopia), Yoon Ga-eun (Our Beloved Summer), and Lee Sang-geun (Exit).

These directors have gained opportunities to debut through the Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival or started their careers there. They expressed, "We want to give back our benefits to emerging creators."

The festival aims to create a space for exchange. It plans to establish networking opportunities connecting creators and the industry, actors and producers, as well as investors and screenplays.

Meanwhile, this year's Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival is organized by Cine21, with Naver as the main sponsor.
