The Activities of the Seogwipo Senior Club That Saved a Life with a Drone

The drone patrol members of the Seogwipo Senior Club dramatically rescued a man in his 70s who was attempting to take his own life.

On the afternoon of the 15th, around 4 PM, Mr. A was found in a dangerous situation, staggering on a cliff near a tourist site in Seohong-dong, Seogwipo, Jeju.

Upon discovering this, the drone patrol members immediately dispatched to the scene, successfully persuaded Mr. A, and moved him to a safe location.

This incident is being evaluated as a success of civil-police cooperative safety activities and is particularly noted as a representative case where senior personnel contribute to community safety.

The autonomous police unit has been conducting various safety cooperation projects in collaboration with the Seogwipo Senior Club since last month, along with the Seogwipo regional police.

They are engaging in joint activities such as patrolling the Olle Trail and crime-prone areas, providing traffic safety education at senior centers, and assisting in search operations for missing persons using drones.

A representative from the autonomous police stated that they plan to expand customized safety activities suitable for the region in the future. They also emphasized, "We will continue to work diligently to create a safe Seogwipo."
