Actor Choi Young-jun is making his debut in Chungmuro. He announced his first film appearance.
Distributor Showbox revealed on the 18th that "Choi Young-jun will make his screen debut in the movie 'Soju War,' playing the role of lawyer Koo Young-mo."
'Soju War' is set against the backdrop of the 1997 IMF financial crisis. It tells the story of a director from a liquor company and an employee from an investment firm competing over the national soju.
Choi Young-jun will portray lawyer Koo Young-mo, a character in charge of crisis management for the National Treasure Group. He offers clear solutions without being swayed by personal emotions.
He will present a completely different facet from his previous works. In the stills, Choi Young-jun reveals a cold and smart demeanor, raising expectations for a unique transformation in his acting.
He commented, "I had to understand Koo Young-mo more than anyone else," adding, "I prepared for the role with the mindset that what Koo Young-mo does needs to look 'justifiable.'"
His co-star Lee Je-hoon remarked, "I was amazed at how realistically he could act," stating, "There was no one else I could think of other than Choi Young-jun for such a wonderful performance."
Meanwhile, 'Soju War' is scheduled to hit theaters on June 3rd.
