A Police Officer Rescues 95-Year-Old Grandmother Trapped in Fire

The sight of a police officer rushing into a fire to rescue a grandmother with limited mobility after hearing she was trapped has drawn attention.

On the 18th, the Boseong Police Station announced that a report was received about a fire occurring at a house in Boseong-eup, Boseong-gun, at 1:51 PM on the 16th.

Following a joint response request from the fire department, six police officers, including Detective Park Yu-min, arrived at the scene, which was about 3 kilometers away from the police station.

The issue was that before the fire department arrived, there was an elderly person who had not been able to escape the rapidly spreading flames within the house, accompanied by loud explosions.

Detective Park, who was controlling the scene, heard the desperate cries of a family member saying, "My mother couldn't get out. Please help."

Without any hesitation, Detective Park soaked his police uniform with water and dashed into the house engulfed in flames.

Inside a room filled with smoke, Detective Park found the grandmother losing consciousness and immediately carried her outside to safety.

The grandmother's family expressed their gratitude, saying, "The police officer jumped into the flames without a second thought that we couldn't dare to enter, and he rescued her. We will never forget this grace, even in death."

The 95-year-old grandmother that Detective Park rescued had undergone leg surgery a month prior and was in a state of limited mobility.

The grandmother has since been transferred to the hospital for stabilization and reports indicate that her life is not in serious danger.

Detective Park stated, "I grew up in my grandmother’s care, so I have a great affection for her. Upon hearing there was a grandmother inside, I thought I had to rescue her no matter what."

He also added, "As a police officer, saving lives is a natural duty. I will continue to do my best to protect the lives of the people."
