A food factory in Daegu that has been ‘suspended’ due to poor hygiene but has been confidently supplying to rest areas

A food factory that received a 'business suspension' due to poor hygiene has continued to supply products to rest areas.

It has been revealed that a food manufacturing company in Daegu, which was penalized with a 'business suspension' for hygiene violations, supplied its products to rest areas despite the suspension period.

On the 16th, JTBC's "Crime Scene" unveiled the unsanitary internal environment of a food company that supplies products to highway rest stops.

According to the released video, the factory produced food like bone soup and spicy pork bulgogi in an unsanitary environment and has been supplying them to the Seoul Meeting Plaza rest area and Jinju rest area.

A whistleblower, referred to as A, disclosed, "I got to know the representative of the company through a friend’s introduction and decided to invest. They record sales of several tens of millions of won a month and several hundred million won a year, but they don't even wash the soup pots; they just fill a coffee pot with hot water, remove a little grease, and work with that."

A continued, "There are absolutely no hygiene gloves or hats. Honestly, if you see the interior of the factory, it's a place where you can't consume the food, but consumers don't know and are eating these unsanitary products."

In response, the Agricultural and Fishery Distribution Department of Daegu City imposed a 54-day business suspension and a fine of 300,000 won on the company for violations of the Livestock Hygiene Control Act and the Advertising Law regarding food.

Even more shocking is the fact that, despite receiving a 'business suspension' for 'hygiene issues,' the company continued its operations and made deliveries.

A claimed, "Even after the company representative received the business suspension, they continued production in two factories, locking the doors."

In the situation of having received a 'business suspension,' the problematic representative was caught by government officials during an unscheduled inspection on the 26th of last month and received an additional 17-day administrative suspension.

The company stated, "There has never been a problem regarding hygiene until now," and explained, "We used to keep it clean, but conflicts arose among the partners, making it difficult to access and clean properly."

They also added, "We plan to close the business once the suspension period ends."
