TWICE has reached number one on the US Billboard main album chart for the first time with their new album, a significant achievement nine years after their debut.
Billboard released a chart preview article on the 3rd (local time), stating, “TWICE has ascended to number one on the ‘Billboard 200’ with their 13th mini album ‘With YOU-th’.”
According to Billboard, TWICE managed to top the chart, surpassing formidable albums such as Morgan Wallen’s ‘One Thing at a Time’ and Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign’s ‘Vultures 1’.
This is the first time TWICE has secured the number one spot on the ‘Billboard 200’. This record comes about nine years after their debut in 2015.
They are the eighth K-pop group and the third girl group, following BLACKPINK and NewJeans, to achieve the number one spot on the ‘Billboard 200’, proving their global popularity.
The ‘Billboard 200’ is Billboard’s main chart. It aggregates physical album sales, the number of digital music downloads converted into album sales figures (TEA), and the number of streams converted into album sales figures (SEA).
According to Billboard, TWICE recorded 95,000 album sales with ‘With YOU-th’, marking the highest first-week sales in 2024.
‘With YOU-th’ is an album that encapsulates the friendship and love between TWICE and their fans, ONCE. The title track, ‘ONE SPARK’, expresses the ever-burning passion of the nine young members.
Meanwhile, TWICE will continue their fifth world tour ‘READY TO BE’ from this month. The tour consists of 49 performances across 27 regions worldwide.
In July, they will hold solo concerts at venues including Yanmar Stadium Nagai in Osaka, Japan, and Nissan Stadium in Kanagawa.
