Suspect in Attempted Murder Caught After 16 Years During Police Station Visit
A man in his 60s, who had been evading authorities for 16 years on charges of attempted murder, was apprehended after visiting a police station. The Eunpyeong Police Department revealed that they arrested the man on the 17th of last month.

The suspect, referred to as A, is accused of attempting to kill B, a rival karaoke business owner in Eunpyeong District, in October 2009 by bringing a canister filled with flammable substance and a blunt object.
It has been reported that a karaoke employee who tried to stop A from attacking B suffered severe burns during the incident.
After fleeing the scene, A evaded police pursuit until he visited the Guro Police Station’s civil service office last month to obtain a driving record certificate, where he was identified and arrested by the police.
The Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office, which took over the case, indicted A on the 9th of this month.

Although this case had remained unsolved for a long time, the suspect's direct visit to the police station provided a breakthrough.
A's arrest is being praised as a result of the continuous efforts and system improvements made by both the police and the prosecution.
With this incident, interest in the resolution of long-term unresolved cases has increased, and attention is drawn to whether similar cases can be solved more frequently in the future.
