According to Spotify, NewJeans added another song to their 200 million streams collection on February 28th. The track “New Jeans” from their second EP “Get Up” has been played 200,198,794 times.
This is their seventh song to reach 200 million streams. Previously, in January, NewJeans had released their debut album “NewJeans” with the triple title song “Cookie,” marking their sixth song to surpass 200 million streams.
“New Jeans” is a song that stands out for its unique structure, fluctuating between UK garage rhythms and Jersey club rhythms. It features lyrics utilizing the team’s name and a catchy melody line.
Immediately after its release, it climbed to the top of both domestic and international music charts. It dominated the 1st and 2nd spots on real-time charts of Melon and Bugs. It also made it to the US Billboard ‘Global 200’ and ‘Global Excl. US’ charts.
NewJeans holds a total of 10 songs with over 100 million streams each. “OMG” has reached 600 million plays, and “Ditto” has exceeded 500 million. “Hype Boy” and “Super Shy” have both surpassed 400 million streams.
But that’s not all. “Attention” has achieved 300 million plays, while “Cookie” and “New Jeans” have each surpassed 200 million. Furthermore, “Hurt,” “ETA,” and “Cool With You” have each achieved over 100 million streams to date.
Meanwhile, NewJeans won three awards at the 21st Korean Music Awards held at Prism Studio in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on February 29th.
