Former President Yoon Seok-yeol is moving from the official residence to his private residence.
On the 11th at 5 PM, former President Yoon Seok-yeol will vacate the presidential residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. This comes one week after his removal following the Constitutional Court's impeachment ruling.
There is no explicit regulation on when an impeached president must vacate the residence. In the case of former President Park Geun-hye, she left the Blue House about 56 hours after the impeachment ruling and moved to her private residence in Samseong-dong.
According to officials close to former President Yoon, senior presidential office aides are expected to visit the residence.
Earlier, on the fifth day of the impeachment, on the 8th, the personal belongings of the presidential couple were moved to Acro Vista in Seocho-dong.
Meanwhile, even for a removed former president, some security and protection will still be provided. According to the Presidential Security Act, the protection period for former presidents is generally for life; however, in the case of removal due to impeachment, it is shortened to five years. Additionally, security can be extended upon request.
