A man in his 40s, who abandoned 21 dogs, sentenced to a suspended prison term
A man in his 40s was sentenced to a suspended prison term for leaving 21 dogs at home, unable to take care of them, and causing them to starve to death.
According to the legal community on the 9th, Judge Kim Bora of the 13th Criminal Division of the Seoul Northern District Court sentenced A (44) to 6 months in prison, with a 2-year suspended sentence, a fine of 1 million won, and ordered him to complete 80 hours of community service.

A was indicted for abandoning 21 dogs at his residence and moving to another location on February 24 of last year.
The dogs were left unattended for about 5 days until they were rescued by police officers who responded to a 112 emergency call on February 29.
Since the owner left without providing food, 3 of the dogs starved to death, and other starving dogs were found in a horrific situation where they were eating the carcasses.

A began raising a pair of dogs in 2020, but as they continued to breed, the number rose to 21. Feeling burdened by the costs of dog food and disposing of their waste, he committed the crime.
The court stated, "Although he left the dogs unattended, resulting in the death of 3 and abandoning the rest, showing a non-reflective attitude when questioned by the investigation authorities indicates poor character," and added, "However, considering that he seems to be acknowledging his wrongdoing and reflecting upon his actions now, we determined the sentence accordingly."
