BTS’s Jungkook has proven his unparalleled solo power by securing the top spot on the ‘Billboard K-Pop Artist 100’ chart.
On the 27th (local time), Billboard celebrated the launch of ‘Billboard Korea’ in May and its inaugural issue in June by revealing the first ‘Billboard K-Pop Artist 100’ list.
The ‘Billboard K-Pop Artist 100’ is a list unveiled for the first time this year, in collaboration between Billboard in the US and ‘Billboard Korea’. It features artists who have shined on the main Billboard charts.
The list was compiled based on the performances of the ‘Billboard 200,’ the main singles chart ‘Hot 100,’ and the ‘Boxscore Top Tour Chart’ from last year (January 7, 2023, to December 30, 2023).
Jungkook topped the ‘Billboard K-Pop Artist 100’ chart, followed by Stray Kids, FIFTY FIFTY, NewJeans, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, SEVENTEEN, and ATEEZ.
The ‘Billboard K-Pop Artist 100’ team provided individual artist introductions and explanations for their selections, with a special focus on Jungkook, who secured the first place.
Billboard stated, “Jungkook truly embraced his nickname as BTS’s ‘Golden Star,’” and “Jungkook’s solo debut single ‘Seven’ debuted at No. 1 on the ‘Billboard Hot 100’.”
It added, “It topped the ‘Billboard Global 200’ for seven weeks, secured the No. 1 ‘Global Song of the Summer,’ and was selected as the top Global K-pop at the ‘Billboard Music Awards’.”
Meanwhile, ‘Billboard Korea’ is set to hold a launch event in May. In addition to the artists selected for the ‘Billboard K-Pop Artist 100,’ major figures from the entertainment industry will be invited.
