Upon returning home, A discovered her dead pet dog outside the window and decided to kill B, grabbing a weapon, but was interrupted by her younger brother, leading to some commotion.
While the police, who were notified later, were checking the house, A threw a cigarette she had been smoking at B and then swung the weapon.

B was not in life-threatening condition but had to undergo heart surgery.
The court stated, "The defendant attempted to stab her father with a weapon in front of police officers," adding, "Although the act was unsuccessful, the victim had previously undergone surgery for colon cancer and could have easily lost his life."
However, the court noted, "The victim acknowledged the crime and showed signs of remorse," stating, "In a fit of anger over the fact that the puppy he had cared for so dearly had died, he acted impulsively, and the victim also pleaded in court for leniency for his daughter."
