Jang Yong-jun (Noel) "My father made me humble"
The letter of late former lawmaker Jang Je-won, who passed away while under investigation for charges of sexual assault, was partially disclosed.
On the 4th, Jang's funeral ceremony was held at the Haeundae Paik Hospital in Busan. Family and friends tearfully bid farewell to the late lawmaker on his final journey.

Family members and close friends, including the deceased's wife, Ha Yoon-soon, and son Jang Yong-jun (rapper Noel), attended the funeral ceremony. Ha shared the late Jang's letter, presumed to be a farewell note, reading it aloud to express their sorrow.
"I have lived earnestly and conscientiously, but I have become a miserable person. I no longer want to explain, confront, or live. I am deeply sorry to my remaining family. If I have hurt anyone, even a little, I sincerely ask for forgiveness."
"My son Noel said about the deceased, 'In a way, my mistakes led to him being in a tragic situation where he could have accomplished greater things,' adding, 'My father always made me humble.'"

Jang's remains will be cremated at Yeongnak Park and interred at the Siloam Memorial Park in Busan.
From 'pro-Yoon core, center of power' to investigation target… a tragic ending
Jang served as a lawmaker for the 18th, 20th, and 21st National Assemblies and was classified as a key figure of the so-called pro-Yoon faction, having served as the secretary of then-President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol during the 2022 presidential election. At one point, he was regarded as the 'highest power figure' within the presidential office.
However, with demands for reform within the party intensifying by the end of 2023 and various pressures mounting, he declared his intention not to run for the next general election on December 12 of the same year, effectively choosing to retire from politics.

Later, he served as the vice president of a university in Busan but was accused in November 2015 of committing sexual assault against A, his former secretary. The police launched an investigation on charges of quasi-rape and injury, and Jang was found dead in an officetel in Gangdong-gu, Seoul, on the 31st of last month.
At the scene, a handwritten letter from the deceased was discovered, reportedly containing messages of "I'm sorry to my family" and "I love you," although the full content of the letter has not been specifically disclosed.
