The Constitutional Court's ruling date for President Yoon Suk-yeol's impeachment is just a day away. As a result, broadcasting schedules and entertainment industry plans have been altered. The Constitutional Court will render its decision at 11 AM on the 4th in the Grand Chamber of the Court, which is 111 days after the impeachment motion was filed. President Yoon has decided not to attend the ruling.
The three major broadcasting networks have scheduled a significant number of news specials for that day. KBS-1TV, for example, will air 'KBS News Special' along with a special documentary and current affairs programs starting from 9 AM.
MBC-TV's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Bunny and Brothers' (written by Seong So-eun and Lee Seul, directed by Kim Ji-hoon) has postponed its premiere date. Due to the schedule of news specials, it has been rescheduled from the 4th to the 11th.
KBS-2TV's new entertainment show 'Pollunteer' has moved up its online press conference schedule. Originally set for the day of the ruling, it will now take place at 10:30 AM on the 3rd, a day earlier.
Comprehensive channels are also offering special broadcasts in line with the impeachment ruling date. JTBC will not air 'Divorce Counseling Camp' on the 3rd. Instead, the current affairs debate program 'Non/Controversy' has been scheduled.
The play 'Pink Lipstick' has canceled its press call and journalists' event, as they coincided with the ruling date. They stated, "We believe it will be difficult to proceed smoothly with the event. We kindly ask for your understanding."
Drama and film interviews have also changed locations. 'Fokki Sokassyuda' conducted its interviews in Yeongdeungpo-gu and Jung-gu instead of near the Constitutional Court. The 'Revelation' team also conducted their schedule in Yeongdeungpo-gu.
The team of 'Opposition Party' (directed by Hwang Byeong-guk), which is set to be released on the 16th, has also decided to hold interviews in Gangnam-gu. They explained, "We kindly ask for your understanding as we are concerned about congestion in the Samcheong-dong area and will proceed in Gangnam."
Meanwhile, the outcome of the Constitutional Court's ruling will determine whether President Yoon can resume his duties. If the court upholds the impeachment motion, he will be removed from office; if dismissed or rejected, he will return immediately.
