The film "My Name Is" (Director Jung Ji-young), based on the Jeju 4·3 Incident, has started production.
On the 1st, the film crew held their first schedule at the Jeju 4·3 Peace Park in Jeju City, attended by Director Jung Ji-young and others, where they paid their respects to the victims of the incident.
The next day, on the 2nd, they visited the 4·3 History Hall at the Pujung Factory Camp, documenting a memorial rite held there. On the 3rd, they began filming with a commemorative ceremony as their first scene.
"My Name Is" is the winner of the 4·3 film screenplay contest. It tells the story of Jung-soon (played by Yeom Hye-ran) as she searches for her lost memories and reflects on the past.
Director Jung Ji-young, who has previously exposed the absurdities of the vested interests in films such as "Broken Arrow" (2012), "Black Money" (2019), and "Boys" (2023), is at the helm of this project.
Yeom Hye-ran plays Jung-soon, a character who carries the pain of the incident. Following her appearance in Netflix's "Sokkie Was Deceived," she continues to work in a project set in Jeju.
Filming will take place throughout Jeju, with major sets in Seogwipo, Hallim, and Jocheon. To recreate the atmosphere of 1998, some scenes will be shot on set.
Director Jung expressed, "We plan to capture Jeju's representative landscapes as much as possible," adding, "I hope this work becomes a starting point for finding the true name of the 4·3 incident."
Meanwhile, "My Name Is" aims to be released in 2026.
