“Ha Jung-woo’s Comedy Hits”… ‘Lobby’ Starts at Box Office No. 2

The movie "Lobby" (directed by Ha Jung-woo) has kicked off its successful run. According to the Korea Film Council's integrated ticket sales network, "Lobby" attracted 37,158 viewers on its opening day, December 2nd. The total audience number, including preview screenings, has reached 41,775.

"Lobby" currently ranks 2nd in the box office and also holds the 2nd position in real-time reservations. As of 8 AM on December 3rd, its reservation rate is at 15.9%, having sold a total of 36,603 tickets. It's closely chasing the 1st place film, "Victory" (25.1%).

"Lobby" is a black comedy genre film about a startup CEO, Chang-wook (played by Ha Jung-woo), who knows nothing but research and embarks on his first-ever lobbying golf outing to secure a 4 trillion won national project. This marks Ha Jung-woo's third directorial work, following "Roller Coaster" (2013) and "Huh Sam-kwan" (2015), with a ten-year gap since his last film. He wrote the script, acted in it, and directed it.

Audiences have responded positively to Ha Jung-woo's style of comedy, noting his unique ideas and witty dialogue. The banter among the actors has also been well-received, showcasing cheeky and engaging exchanges. Notably, while the film revolves around golf, it is noted that viewers do not need to know much about the sport to enjoy it. The setting of lobbying in a golf course is perceived as fresh, with the direction, acting, and story all receiving favorable reviews.

"Lobby" features Ha Jung-woo along with Kang Hae-rim (Jin Pro), Lee Dong-hwi (Lobby broker journalist), Kim Eui-sung (Head of national policy), Cha Joo-young (Golf club lady), and Choi Si-won (National actor), among others. Meanwhile, the top-ranking film at the box office on that day is "Victory" (directed by Kim Hyung-ju), which attracted 50,766 viewers, bringing its cumulative audience to 877,735. The 3rd place film is "Attack on Titan: The Final Season – The Last Attack".
