Large Corporation's Workplace Couple Facing Divorce Crisis Due to Infidelity
Mr. A, who met his wife as a colleague at a large corporation, is now facing a divorce crisis due to his wife’s infidelity.

Mr. A, who reported to YTN Radio's "Attorney Joinseob's Counseling Room," shared that he and his wife were a well-known couple from their training center days and successfully married. However, they are currently experiencing significant difficulties due to his wife’s spending habits and recent infidelity.
Mr. A revealed that he used savings accumulated during college and money earned after employment to purchase an apartment. In contrast, his wife has been focused on luxury spending without saving.
She felt anxious if she didn't buy luxury items each season, resulting in Mr. A's salary being used for living expenses while her salary went towards luxury purchases. She even borrowed money from her colleagues at work to buy luxury items.
Despite his wife’s behavior, Mr. A has endured for the sake of their kindergarten-age child. However, the situation changed recently when his wife began an affair with a colleague.

Ultimately, Mr. A filed for divorce, and his wife claimed that she would demand child support in exchange for her parents raising their child, asserting that she would continue to care for the child. Additionally, she demanded half of the apartment's equity as compensation for mental distress, citing interference in her salary during their marriage.
In response, attorney Jeon Boseong from Shinsegae Law Firm explained, "The child support provided by the wife is calculated as a joint child support obligation, thus it does not incur separate debt."
However, he added that her contribution to the household economy may be recognized, which could work in her favor during the calculation of contributions. He advised that future child support issues should be resolved through consultation between the couple, and if not agreed upon, a court's judgment should be sought.
Attorney Jeon also noted, "The mental distress compensation demanded by the wife means alimony, but the one entitled to alimony is actually Mr. A, who was the victim of infidelity," and stated, "It is difficult for alimony to be recognized solely based on interference with salary."
