
'Unnie's Barbershop' Lee Seok-won is making a comeback after announcing his retirement eight years ago.
Lee Seok-won appeared on Melon's 'Track Zero Invitation' released on the 13th. He confessed the reason behind his decision to resume musical activities after retiring in 2017.
He stated, "I've always had the desire to stop making music, but life didn't change much after retirement. It felt unsatisfactory."
The upcoming album's 30th anniversary sparked this revival. Lee Seok-won mentioned, "I thought I should use that as an excuse to try making music again."
To mark his 30th anniversary of stage debut, he will be releasing a new song. He also shared plans for an album release, saying, "The goal is to form a new band and release an album by November next year."
Lee Seok-won is a representative artist of Korean modern rock. He formed 'Unnie's Barbershop' and debuted with his first album, 'The Pigeon is the Rat of the Sky,' in 1996.
He has released several critically acclaimed albums, including the second album 'After Story' and the fifth album 'The Most Ordinary Existence.' Notably, the fifth album was recognized as 'Album of the Year' at the 6th Korean Music Awards.
He wrapped up his band activities with his sixth album, 'The Lonely People,' in 2017. He announced his retirement, stating, "I no longer wish to live as a musician."
