tvN's 'Ask the Stars' (written by Seo Sook-hyang, directed by Park Shin-woo) concluded with a 2% viewership rating.
The final episode of 'Ask the Stars' aired on the 24th. According to Nielsen Korea, the viewership rating was 2.6%. This episode depicted Gong Ryong (played by Lee Min-ho) and Eve Kim (played by Gong Hyo-jin) who became parents in space.
Eve Kim discovers her pregnancy while in space. Upon hearing the news, Gong Ryong requests to be taken to the space station from the ground control center. The couple eventually welcomes a healthy daughter.
However, Eve passes away a day after giving birth. Gong Ryong and the space station crew co-parented the child until they could return to Earth.
The episode concluded with Gong Ryong's narration. He scatters Eve's ashes in space, offering a final farewell. He said, "Eve accomplished a lot. The universe became both a grave and a womb," leaving a message that everything alive is a miracle.
'Ask the Stars' is the first space office drama in Korea. It drew attention before airing as a large-scale production with a 50 billion won budget. Gong Hyo-jin and writer Seo Sook-hyang reunited for this project, following their hit collaborations in 'Pasta' (2010) and 'Jealousy Incarnate' (2016).
However, it did not meet expectations. Despite anticipating a spectacular space narrative, the show failed to resonate with viewers due to its complex settings and excessive emphasis on the importance of life. The addition of Eve's death further contributed to a sense of emptiness.
The series started with a 3.3% viewership rating in its first episode but dropped to the 1% range by the fifth episode. The final episode ended with a 2% rating, making a quiet exit. The following show to be aired is 'Potato Research Institute' starring Lee Sun-bin and Kang Tae-oh.
