An exhibition on director Bong Joon-ho will be held in the United States.
The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures recently announced on its website that it plans to host an exhibition on director Bong Joon-ho starting on the 23rd of next month.
This exhibition is part of the "Director's Inspiration" series. It closely examines Bong Joon-ho's filmmaking process.
Approximately 100 items, including storyboards, posters, concept art, props, and on-set photos, will be revealed. Unreleased archive materials and personal collections will also be showcased.
The exhibition is a long-term project. "Director's Inspiration: Bong Joon-ho" will continue at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures until January 10, 2027.
The museum stated, "Director Bong Joon-ho's films address universal issues such as class inequality, social injustice, environmental crises, and political corruption."
They further interpreted, "From 'The Host' to 'Parasite,' his works do not fall into simple categories. They contain social criticism with unexpected narratives."
It is the first time the museum is focusing on the works of a Korean director over an extended period. Previously, retrospectives on Song Kang-ho and Youn Yuh-jung have been held.
Along with the exhibition, film screenings will also be held. "Parasite" (2019) and "Okja" (2017) will be screened on the 22nd. Director Bong Joon-ho is also expected to attend.
Meanwhile, director Bong Joon-ho's new film "Mickey 17" is set to be released on the 28th.
