
Koo Jun-yeop, formerly of 'Clone', transported the remains of his wife, Seo Hee-won, to Taiwan.
According to Taiwanese media outlet 'Liberty Times', Koo Jun-yeop departed from Japan's Haneda Airport on a chartered flight on the 5th. He arrived at Taipei Songshan Airport around 3 PM that day.
Local reporters spotted Koo at the airport. Liberty Times reported that "Koo Jun-yeop covered his face with a hat and mask," adding, "but his expression was somber."
He held his wife's urn tightly in his arms. While moving to the vehicle, he protected her from the cameras of the journalists. One of the staff shielded the urn with a large umbrella.
Liberty Times reported, "This thoughtful man (Koo Jun-yeop) asked the staff to 'protect her (Seo Hee-won) with an umbrella' because he was afraid his beloved wife might be disturbed."
Seo Hee-won's sister, Seo Hee-je, stated, "My sister has safely returned home. To respect her quiet nature, there will be no farewell ceremony," and added, "We appreciate your love for her."
Seo Hee-won had gone on a family trip to Japan on the 29th of last month. However, the flu and its complications, which she had been suffering from before departure, worsened, and she passed away on the 2nd. Koo Jun-yeop and the family conducted a cremation locally.
Koo Jun-yeop and Seo Hee-won are the protagonists of a romantic love story. The two secretly dated for about a year in 1998. At that time, Koo Jun-yeop was a top Hallyu star, and Seo Hee-won was beloved as Taiwan's 'Geum Jandi.'
However, they parted ways due to realistic reasons. Seo Hee-won later married a Chinese businessman in 2011 but divorced after 10 years. Koo Jun-yeop reached out to her upon hearing the news, leading to their dramatic reunion.
