Taiwanese actress Xu Xiyuan, also known as Barbie Hsu, has passed away at the age of 48.
Her sister, Xu Xidi, announced Xu Xiyuan's death through her agency on the 3rd, revealing that the cause was flu complications (acute pneumonia).
Xu Xidi stated, "Our family was traveling in Japan for the New Year," and added, "Unfortunately, our dearest sister Xu Xiyuan has left us."
She reminisced about the deceased, saying, "I am grateful to have shared moments with her as a sister. I will cherish the time we cared for each other. Rest in peace."
According to Taiwan's 'ET Today', Xu Xiyuan had traveled to Hakone, Japan, during the Lunar New Year holiday. She visited a local hospital after experiencing symptoms such as a cough on the 29th of last month.
There, she was diagnosed with Type A flu. She was prescribed medication, but her condition worsened. The media reported that "she passed away at 7 AM on the 2nd."
Xu Xiyuan was a well-known actress domestically for her role as Shan Cai in the Taiwanese version of 'Meteor Garden'. She also appeared in the drama 'Ghost Whisperer' and the film 'Reign of Assassins'.
She made headlines for her surprise marriage to singer Koo Jun-yup. They reconnected after she heard about his divorce, leading to their reunion. In March 2022, they registered their marriage in Korea.
After registering their marriage, the couple resided in Taiwan, building a life together. They shared family photos on December 25th and 31st last year, showcasing their harmonious life.
