MBC has launched an official investigation into the suspicious death of Oh Yoanna. On the afternoon of the 31st, MBC announced, "We have decided to form a fact-finding committee with an external expert as the chairman to uncover the cause and truth behind Oh Yoanna's death."

Previously, MBC faced allegations of ignoring workplace bullying, which was reported as the cause of Oh Yoanna's death. The bereaved family claimed that Oh Yoanna had reported being bullied by her MBC colleagues during her lifetime, but no changes were made. They alleged that MBC had been complicit in the cover-up of the bullying.

Ahn Cheol-soo, a member of the People Power Party, also criticized MBC heavily. On the 30th, he stated, "It is practically difficult for a freelance worker, who is in a weaker position, to report to the company," adding, "MBC is shifting the responsibility onto the victim."

Facing rising public criticism, MBC has taken action. However, it seems unlikely to avoid criticism for its delayed response, as it took four months after Oh Yoanna's death for MBC to begin addressing the issue.

MBC explained, "Multiple external experts, including legal professionals, will participate, and the heads of departments related to personnel grievances within the company will also participate as working members to support an accurate investigation. The investigation is set to officially begin early next week."

They further stated, "An internal investigation has been ongoing since the allegations surrounding Oh Yoanna's death arose. All pre-investigation materials gathered so far will be provided to the committee to ensure that the truth can be uncovered swiftly and smoothly."

Lastly, MBC conveyed, "We offer our condolences to the deceased and will make every effort to clarify the facts to help heal the bereaved family's pain."

Meanwhile, Oh Yoanna passed away on September 15th of last year. The bereaved family released a 17-page manuscript of a will stating that the deceased had suffered continuous workplace bullying. Currently, four individuals have been identified as alleged perpetrators, and on the 23rd of last month, the family initiated a lawsuit claiming damages due to workplace bullying.
