The movie 'Broken' (director Kim Jin-hwang) is attracting attention overseas even before its release. On the 21st, it was announced that the film had been pre-sold to 158 countries worldwide and invited to the Glasgow Film Festival in the UK.
All Asian countries are importing 'Broken'. Pre-sales have been completed in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, India, Mongolia, and more.
'Broken' has also been sold in Europe, including France, Spain, CIS & Baltic countries, as well as the Middle East and Africa. Additionally, it is expected to be available on flights worldwide.
The Glasgow Film Festival is also taking note of 'Broken'. The festival is considered one of the representative film events in the UK and has invited 'Broken' to its official non-competitive section this year.
The Glasgow Film Festival will be held from February 26 to March 9. In the past, it has invited Korean films such as 'Sleep', 'The Man Standing Next', and 'Voice of Silence'. This year, 'Broken' is the only invited Korean film.
Alison Gardner, director of the Glasgow Film Festival, praised 'Broken', calling it "a work that masterfully blends thriller, mystery, and crime elements."
Director Alison Gardner complimented, "The film captivates the audience with fantastic acting, a tense narrative, and twists. It's a movie I definitely want to share with the festival audience this year."
'Broken' is a movie about one man's pursuit. It intriguingly weaves together a brother who returns as a corpse, his missing wife, and a best-selling novel that predicts events.
Ha Jung-woo returns with the rawness he showed in 'The Chaser' and 'The Yellow Sea'. He intensively conveys deep emotions like sadness, anger, and revenge. Kim Nam-gil, Yoo Da-in, Jung Man-sik, and Im Seong-jae also deliver outstanding performances.
Newcomer Kim Jin-hwang, who debuted with 'Shepherds', wrote and directed the film. 'Broken' will be released in domestic theaters on February 5.
