“Mickey 17,” Berlin Film Festival Premiere… Bong Joon-ho, 11 Years After “Snowpiercer”

Director Bong Joon-ho will attend the Berlin International Film Festival for the first time in 11 years. On the 11th, American entertainment media Variety reported that Director Bong Joon-ho’s new film “Mickey 17” will premiere at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival. Director Bong was last invited to the festival with “Snowpiercer” (2014) and is attending again after 11 years.

“Mickey 17” will be unveiled for the first time in Berlin. This film is Bong Joon-ho’s first work since “Parasite” (2019) and is based on the sci-fi novel by American author Edward Ashton. “Mickey” is an expendable assigned to dangerous tasks, and when he dies, he is reprinted. The story unfolds when “Mickey 18” is printed during his 17th death.

The film features a star-studded cast including Hollywood actor Robert Pattinson, Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo. Director Bong and Robert Pattinson will hold a conference and stage greeting in Korea on the 20th. The film will premiere in Korea first on the 28th of the next month, with a global release on March 7th.
