Actor Chu Young-woo is securing three upcoming projects, continuing his rapid trajectory towards becoming a major star. Chu Young-woo made his debut in the 2021 web drama 'You Make Me Dance.' He has built his filmography across various genres with works such as 'Police University,' 'School 2021,' 'Opening – Babel Syndrome,' 'Once Upon a Small Town,' and 'Oasis.'
In just three years, he has landed the lead role in a weekend drama. In his debut historical drama 'The Tale of Lady Ok,' he performed dual roles. He captivated viewers by transitioning between 'Cheon Seung-hwi,' a versatile entertainer of the Joseon era, and noble family's eldest son 'Sung Yoon-gyeom.'
More than three works are set to release this year alone. These include Netflix's new series 'Trauma Center,' 'Square,' and tvN's 'Gyeonu and Jik-nyeo.' Starting with 'The Tale of Lady Ok,' he plans to fill 2025 with engagements.
He covers a wide range of genres. First, 'Trauma Center' will release its entire series on the 24th. The story follows Baek Gang-hyuk (played by Joo Ji-hoon), a genius surgical specialist, as he revives a practically defunct trauma team.
Chu Young-woo takes on the role of Baek Gang-hyuk’s first student, 'Yang Jae-won.' Jae-won is an elite fellow who grows as he struggles to save critical patients, crossing lines of life and death with Baek Gang-hyuk.
The Netflix series 'Square' is based on a webtoon of the same name. It is a noir action piece. It follows the character Gi-jun (played by So Ji-sub), who severed his Achilles tendon to leave the organization, as he uncovers the secrets behind the death of his brother Gi-seok (played by Lee Jun-hyuk), who was the organization's second in command.
Chu Young-woo plays 'Geum-son,' the prosecutor son of Ju-un (played by Heo Joon-ho), the head of Gi-jun’s organization. While Geum-son maintains a distance from the organization in his role as a prosecutor, his ambition adds tension to the drama.
He also showcases romance. tvN's 'Gyeonu and Jik-nyeo' is based on a webtoon of the same name. It is a fantasy romance about a high school girl shaman who rescues her first love. Chu Young-woo stars as the protagonist 'Gyeonu,' unfolding a fresh first-love romance.
