Actor Jinyoung has completed filming his next project. A representative from Management Run announced on the 7th that the Taiwanese original film ‘A Picture of That Year, 1977’ (directed by Tang Sheng-yung and Cheng Nei-fang), in which Jinyoung stars, recently wrapped up production.
The film is set in Zhongli, Taiwan in 1977, and focuses on the photographer ‘Xianying’ (played by Yi Mu) and the Taekwondo coach from Korea, ‘Kim Ho-hee’ (played by Jinyoung).
It is a romantic historical drama. Set in a time of turmoil and hope, the story unfolds as three young people pursue their dreams through their camera shutters and sweat.
The character ‘Kim Ho-hee’ that Jinyoung plays is determined and mature. He moves to Taiwan after overcoming personal pain in Korea, bringing a fresh sensibility to the 70s vibe.
He prepared meticulously. During his two-month stay in Taiwan, he practiced Taekwondo and Chinese simultaneously, focusing heavily on perfection. Filming took place across Taiwan. Jinyoung emphasized the teamwork during filming, saying, “Song Baek-ui taught me a lot of Chinese,” and “I did a lot of pre-script readings. Even though the language is different, our hearts connected.”
Jinyoung worked alongside Yi Mu. Yi Mu is a familiar actor to Korean fans through Netflix’s ‘The Victims’ Game’ and the Busan International Film Festival screened film ‘Lemongrass of Summer Days.’ Director Cheng Nei-fang shared, “After filming the scene where Jinyoung and Yi Mu exchange emotions in front of the photo studio, Director Tang Sheng-yung was moved to tears.”
His agency stated, “Jinyoung finished filming in January and returned to Korea. He will continue engaging in various activities such as local magazines, fan meetings, and music releases while traveling between Korea and Taiwan.” Meanwhile, ‘A Picture of That Year, 1977’ is scheduled to be released in the second half of this year.
