Actor Park Jung-min takes on his first zombie role. Coupang Play's new series 'Newtopia' (written by Han Jin-won and Ji Ho-jin, directed by Yoon Sung-hyun) released character stills of Park Jung-min on the 24th. Park Jung-min transforms into the soldier 'Jae-yoon.'
Jae-yoon is serving in an air defense unit in a high-rise tower in Seoul. The stills depict him on the phone with his girlfriend and in a standoff with someone, aiming his gun. Jae-yoon is a soldier who endures his military life by finding joy in phone calls with his girlfriend Young-joo. Suddenly, in a world overrun by zombies, he struggles to reunite with Young-joo.
'BLACKPINK's Jisoo takes on the role of his girlfriend Young-joo. They act as a couple. The two race across downtown Seoul toward each other. Director Yoon Sung-hyun described Jae-yoon as a character who matures and grows through the process of reaching Young-joo, stating, "Park Jung-min naturally came to mind," explaining his casting choice.
Park Jung-min represents the face of youth in this era. Director Yoon advised to look forward to how Park will portray a character who becomes more resilient in a world chaotic with a zombie virus.
'Newtopia' will premiere on February 7th at 8 PM next year.
