Actor Park Jung-min and Jisoo meet in ‘Newtopia.’
Coupang Play announced on the 11th that the new series ‘Newtopia’ is set to be released on February 7, 2025, at 8 PM. Along with the news, the first stills were unveiled, featuring Park Jung-min and Jisoo.
‘Newtopia’ belongs to the apocalypse genre. It tells the story of soldier Jae-yoon and his girlfriend, Young-joo, running towards each other across a zombie-infested Seoul. It is based on the novel ‘Influenza’ by author Han Sang-woon.
The stills were dynamic, depicting a happy moment between the late-blooming soldier Jae-yoon (played by Park Jung-min) and his girlfriend Young-joo (played by Jisoo), as well as a world in panic due to a zombie attack.
Jae-yoon’s action sequences were hinted at, showing him facing imminent crises in a high-rise tower in downtown Seoul, which is swarming with zombies. Meanwhile, Young-joo is navigating the streets of Gangnam.
An insider noted, “Look forward to the young and powerful synergy created by the unique characters thriving in their respective spaces, such as high-rise towers and the heart of Seoul.”
The chemistry between Park Jung-min and Jisoo is a viewing highlight of ‘Newtopia.’ An insider said, “Even in dire situations, they think of each other first, crafting a story that becomes increasingly poignant.”
Director Yoon Sung-hyun is at the helm, known for films like ‘Bleak Night’ and ‘Time to Hunt.’ An insider hinted, “It’s a worldview where apocalypse and romance collide, as visual storyteller Director Yoon reveals.”
‘Newtopia’ will be available worldwide in over 240 countries and regions via Prime Video.
