Actress Gong Hyo-jin returns with a cold charisma. tvN's new Saturday-Sunday drama 'Ask the Stars' (written by Seo Sook-hyang, directed by Park Shin-woo) will premiere on the 4th of next month at 9:20 PM. It is the country's first space office series.

The drama depicts the life outside Earth of Boss Eve (played by Gong Hyo-jin), who works at a zero-gravity space station, and an uninvited guest Gong Ryong (played by Lee Min-ho) with a secret mission. Gong Hyo-jin takes on the role of Commander Eve Kim, leading the space station. This marks her return to drama in six years. She stated that she was drawn to the freshness of a space-themed drama as her reason for choosing the project.

She added, "I always played the role of the youngest in Writer Seo Sook-hyang's works. I liked the novelty of taking on the role of Commander, a captain, this time," and continued, "The familiar trust from the encounter between the writer and the PD played a significant role in my decision to participate."

Eve is a character completely opposite to those Gong Hyo-jin has played so far. She shared, "She has no affection or interest in people and is only fascinated by experimental life forms. I tried hard to maintain the posture of a strict commander."

Gong Hyo-jin has been noted for styling that brings out the characteristics of each character in her works. For Eve Kim, space work attire was a priority for more than half of the drama, matching her professional characteristics. She explained, "Charismatic outfits as a space scientist were central," and "I chose cool matches that don't follow trends rather than trendy items."

She also pointed out things to watch. "Because all scenes are based in a zero-gravity state, much thought and passion were needed for each scene. Since it’s a space I haven't experienced, I acted as if heading into the unknown from scratch," she confessed.

Finally, she stated, "It is a story about life in space, not about space wars or space monsters. Please watch to see what space research scientists risked their lives to protect for humanity."
